Pre-Screening
Had to line up outside the room, when walking in we got handed a piece of chewing gum and then went to our seats. Seating arrangement wasn't manipulated in any way, was standard to that of a cinema. On the screen there was a slide stating that we were not the actors, it also told us to open out chewing gum and read the instructions inside. Mine said 'when you see the young boy waving his arms cough three times.'.
During Screening
The film was shown on the screen and at different point the audience would do different things, this all depended on what instructions they were given. Some people would clap as a car went by, other would raise and lower their hand when they saw a clock, some stood up at random points, and other had the same instructions as me. The film was around 12 minutes long, when it was finished we were just allowed to go, nothing to finish the experience.
Overall Thoughts
The packaging of the chewing gum was really nice, the colours matched the posters making a cohesive aesthetic, the instructions inside the package was also well produced.
- The paper the packaging was printed on could've been the slightly glossy/plasticy packaging as it would've increased the authenticity and make it seem more professional.
- Would've been good to have a few more instructions, felt like there were only a couple. Would be interesting to have everyone in the audience have something different so no one was in cahoots with anyone else.
