- Testing different fonts to print onto the labels, sans serif proved the best good for larger text.
- Serif fonts looked too formal and the kerning on some of the letter pairs (f&i) made the text look over complicated.
- Futura was most succesful, large rounded counters provided a friendly appearance compared to other typefaces - ultimately we want people to be interested in the label.
Printing stickers to attach to the labels:
- Print on transparent adhesive - doesn't distract from the label.
- If printing on reflective vinyl as previously mentioned the letters wouldn't be as clear. Also can't print onto vinyl so would have to be hand written (could us this for further developments).
- Have something stating it is an instagram account, just the @fix.my.bike could be a twitter or something.
Some of the labels had slight faults to them, most likely due to the price, but aren't super noticable. Stickers with the clear adhesive worked really well, could easily see the typeface. The size of the type as well as the font makes it really easy to read, no complications with small details (these can be added onto the instagram).
What to do next?
- Attach to bikes a photograph, close ups and wide shots with lots of labels.
- Begin planning Instagram posts
- Design illustrations to be used on instagram
