GraphicDesign&
Influenced by her parents:
- Mum, illustrator, colour and charm within her own work.
- Dad, typographer, strict, harsh, high contrast.
Drama School (stage management) > CSM (graphic desing) > UoL (english)
- Influenced a lot by politics - grew up under thatcher.
- Interested in the ethics within design.
- Takes things people say and use it as inspiration for projects, really picks the details out.
- Worked for 'Women's Press' a feminist magazine.
- Aware of campaigns, too slick can have negative impact on the campaign, for example Ed Miliband, and Hilary Clinton.
- Sees design as always being political, a strong belief Lucienne holds.
Exhibition Design : On Solid Ground - Refugee Photography Exhibition
- Designed to be easily transported around Europe, when being exhibited in different cities images were vandalised, reviled issues within the topic.
GraphicDesign&
Produces many books, GD&Mathematics, GD&Health, etc.
Exhibition for GraphicDesign& Health - 'Can Graphic Design Save Your Life?'
- Layout for the exhibtion is hihgly thought out, each station is curated to s specific part, and clearly links to the context.
- Exhibited the unbranded cigarette packets, interested in the 'lack' of branding as well. It used Pantone 448 labelled 'the most ugly colour in the world'.
Exhibiton for GraphicDesign& Politics - 'Hope to Nope'
- Curate din 9 months, short turn around time.
- Curating is about developing a narrative for the exhibition, needed to be carefully considered throughout the project as it could change the way the exhibition appeared to the audience.
For both exhibitions the aim was to bring people in from a non graphic design background. Spread the message wider, reach a broader audience.
