Research - Ambulo Branding

Ambulo restaurant branding deigned by Totally Okay 






'One of the formative concepts for the all day café Ambulo was travel and the notion of that through the changing food offering. I found that lettering on old maps could be used quite playfully when signifying the name of a wood or river and considered how this could imply travel and movement. I used the map again to pilfer the grid (*reference*) and created a uniform but flexible alternate. The contrasting yet symbiotic languages provide an elastic, open, and democratic identity that can flux to suit purpose.'
- Thinking of the project and how we want to reflect playfulness, this idea of movement really encapsulates what we wanted to translate but in a more approachable manor. 


  • The branding is really neat and crisp using a distinct colour palette of varying shades of blue.
    - Think about keeping a consistent colour palette as well as a consistent type.
  • It presents a polished brand which really suits the interior design and the building the restaurant is in.
    - Taking the location into consideration, really pushed the design forward. Think about how the format of instagram could be used within the project to the benefit of the instagram.
  • The use of blocks within the brand looks a lot like building block you'd play with as a child, this compliments the food they serve as it is all very much what you'd eat as a kid, but presented in a new way.
    - A unique way developing a brand identity, how can we make sure we keep the instagram informative, as well as being interesting to look at.
